Solent Seascape Project

The first project of its kind in the UK to initiate seascape-scale restoration.

The Solent Seascape Project is the first of its kind in the UK, initiating the recovery of the ecosystem across an entire seascape — the area where sea meets coastline and adjacent land. The long-term vision is to protect and restore at least 30 per cent of the Solent’s seascape, tipping the balance from a degraded state to a naturally expanding, connected and productive ecosystem.

We worked with the ten key partners involved to create the project’s identity, website, infographics and reports.

We’re focused on restoring seagrass meadows, saltmarshes, oyster reefs and seabird nesting sites. They each provide vital ecosystem services, which benefit the landscape and the people who live here. And we hope to implement better management for the habitats which still exist. We still have some seagrass and remnants of the oyster population.
